Renting on Harfords Point

Harfords Point has been the home of year-round and seasonal residents for over 70 years. We love the beauty and peace of this beautiful place and we hope that you will appreciate and respect it as well.

Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind which will help us protect this area and ensure that you and your neighbors enjoy your stay.

  • Respect the silence of the woods after 10 pm. If you want to enjoy the party after that time, please move it inside.

  • Be careful of your campfire.
    • Wildfires are always a danger in the woods. By law campfires must be attended at all times and fully extinguished when you leave it.
    • Harfords Point is a nationally designated Firewise community which means that we take significant precautions to protect our property from wildfires. This includes yearly brush chipping around our properties, the installation of a dry hydrant to provide water from the lake to fight fires in the winter, and annual fire education programs.

  • Take care with your boat.
    • Clean your boat before launching it. Do not introduce any unwanted plant life into Moosehead Lake.
    • Use no-wake speed in coves and near beaches.

  • Obey the laws of the road The majority of roads on Harfords Point are owned and maintained by Piscataquis County and users are therefore subject to County laws.
    • The County prohibits ATVs and snowmobiles on the roads.
    • The posted speed limit is 25 mph for the safety of both vehicles and pedestrians. The road can be very bumpy and/or icy so please use caution.
  • Keep your dog under control   All residents are required to keep their dogs under control.

  • Use the appropriate lake access for the property you are renting.
    • There is no public beach or boat ramp on Harfords Point.
    • Renters must use lake access designated on the property's deed. Please make sure you know how to access the lake.

Enjoy your stay on Harfords Point!
